I bought a new lower ball joint part and planning to do the switch (is it hard to install?), but i just wanted to see if anyone has other recommendations or advice they can give me. So has anyone has experience with this lower ball joint issue? or any advice? Take some white grease or silicone spray to lube the steering link boot that goes through the firewall from the drivers side.

what he thought it was and he said it could be the Lower Ball joint or upper arm failing. I originally thought it was my sway bar bushings.i re-lubbed them, made sure i didn't over torque the bushing bolts, but the noise still persisted. Place a large prybar (think 3 ft crowbar) under the tire and rapidly pry the tire up.

These sounds are usually caused by wear and tear on your vehicle’s hardware, such as tie-rod ends and ball joints. This noise will be more noticeable when you’re making low-speed turns, such as when turning into a driveway. If you are unsure of how to check ball joints the usual method is to raise the car by the lower control arm. If you hear a sound similar to squeaking or a creaking, it is most likely the result of your car’s suspension. This occurs when i turn the steering wheel slowly, but when i make fast steering turns or going at cruising speeds, you don't hear it.īut at slow speeds, slow turning, and getting out of the car it creaks. Creaks, groans and other noises while turning can be a signal of something serious. Thanks for posting on r/MechanicAdvice This is just a reminder to review the rules. No popping or vibrations, just LOUD creaks. I already replaced the ball joints and the cv axle looks fine from the outside. Sounds like a opening a rusty door or something like that. It stopped for awhile then just this past week it started again and has gotten much worse.Įverytime i slowly move and turn my steering wheel it would creeeeek*. Whats interesting is that when I put in my new struts, the noise went away for a day but then it came back the next day.I've been having a problem with my IS.it started to occur months ago when the front passenger side suspension area would creak when i or passengers got out of the car. I know it is not the struts because I recently changed the struts to Koni STR T and the noise is still there. Tie rods undergo a lot of wear and are under heavy loads as they are the ones that transfer the steering force from the rack to the wheels. Tie rods connect the steering rack to the wheel and hence is a very critical component of the steering system. Besides that, when one side of the ball joint moves, it causes another side to move. That said, when this joint becomes loose or worn out, it will start producing a creak whenever you turn the steering wheel. A bad strut bearing can be heard at the top of the strut while someone turns the wheel. Another leading cause of creaky noises in your car is a faulty ball joint. You can observe this as someone turns the wheel. tcmichnorth November 24, 2021, 12:06am 9 The strut also turns left and right with the wheel. it usually is the first step in it going bad. That being said, it is noticeable louder when I first drive my car in the morning. The cause of creaking noise while turning often turns out to be worn out or loose tie rods. a bad ball joint will also squeak when turning the wheel. It seems as if when I drive my car for a while, the noise dies down a I notice that the noise is not always there. if that starts to give u a repeatable creaking. I have read other post related to this problem but still, I have not found a solution. pop your hood, roll down the driver window and stick your hand on the steering wheel and move it left and right. My friend and I checked the spring seating (I am lowered on eibach pro kit) and even changed the strut bearings and still, the sound persists the upper strut bolt is tightened as well.

Also, if my car is not moving and I turn the wheel to the right, I hear one click sometimes, but usually I do not hear anything at all. I do not hear this noise when I drive faster. This noise also happens sometimes when I go over bumps but mostly when I turn the wheel at slow speeds. The past couple of months I noticed a creaking noise while turning the wheel to the right and sometimes to the left.
